Look at me when I speak to you!

You probably recognize this photo.

Yes, it’s Dumbledore, the famous headmaster of the Wizarding School of Hogwarts in the Harry Potter series.

And this guy has uttered a whole lot of “Hogwash” wisdom.

Strange that we find it easier to listen to a fictional character than a real being.

Certainly, on average, more people probably know the wisdom spoken by Dumbledore from the Harry Potter series than they know about the TRUTH given to us by GOD.

Dumbledore speaks fictional wisdom.

In other words, when you read or listen, be sure you understand that his words may contain a shred of truth — or maybe none at all.

Remember, it’s fiction.

As a believer in the authority of Holy Scripture which conveys absolute truth to man without one shred of fiction, it’s actually interesting to read Dumbledore and guess what Bible verses or accounts were in J. K. Rowling’s mind as she spun her fictional tales.

The point is — why beat around the bush?  Why make the truth more difficult to discern?

Instead… just read it from its factual source and forget the fiction!

God in all His perfection has given mankind a clear revelation of all man needs to know for saving faith, Godly living and the practice of a holy faith.

It is truly, “His story”… God’s “his-tory book.”

The Bible was written over thousands of years, through holy men of God whom God’s Spirit enabled to render His message in words we can understand.

The Bible is the only book of absolute TRUTH mankind has.

I encourage you to read it.

It’s free from fiction, error or anything that would mis-communicate to you God’s meaning.

And, it will explain to you how you can come to understand God’s purposes for mankind — and how you can come to know Him and be reconciled to Him.

The Bible accounts explain how man was created sinless and how he chose to disobey the just commandment of God.

Dumbledore would have you believe, “It matters not what someone is born, but what they grow to be.”

But, that’s flat wrong unless you’re talking about FAILURE!

It matters that mankind was born “sinless.”

Further, man needs to understand that he is no longer sinless due to the disobedience of his first ancestors.

It matters more that you realize that — to be reconciled to God and to have a genuine relationship with Him.

And, to do that,  you must — in His eyes and by His means —  become sinless again!

That was a foreordained purpose of God for the incarnation of His only begotten Son.  Living in perfect obedience to His Heaven Father, Jesus Christ was qualified to be “the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”

Dumbledore forgot this key TRUTH.

His incorrect information would totally overlook this fact that is man’s only hope of “everlasting life.”

In The Chamber of Secrets, Dumbledore said, “It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.”

This saying is a bit more accurate, but again, fails to tell the full truth as only God’s Word can.

Genesis 3 reveals the truth about “choices.”

Then, it was the choices of Adam and Eve, but their bad choices gives you and me an inheritance that creates for all mankind an eternal problem.

After disobeying God they experienced consequences.

Not instant physical death which apparently Eve wasn’t worried much about, but they were forced outside of the Garden.

Their bad choices ended their “right-relationship” to God which had been sustained by their “right-choices” to obey His commandments.

As we have covered during this COVID-19 period, death did not occur “inside” the Garden.

God had to set them outside where  — pardon the pun  — death was a fact of life.

Out in the wild and darkened earth, Satan ruled, not God.

God protected His creation in their sinlessness, but He didn’t force it on them.

They chose to disobey/sin, He pointed them to the “world” in which that would not be avoided.

However, God created man for a purpose.

God wanted a people who would love Him and realize their joy and fulfillment in living in fellowship with Him forever.

He gave them an understanding in the Garden that life would now be different after their bad choice, but they were not being expelled from the Garden to be lost to God.

The Godhead was already prepared for sending to earth the “perfect Lamb of God” and a means of believing in His person and His work and by FAITH they might know RESTORATION with God by FORGIVENESS from Christ.

Awesome facts.

I fear poor Dumbledore didn’t include the Bible in the curriculum of the Wizarding school of Hogwarts.

So, I conclude these brief thoughts by restating the Title:  Look at me when I’m talking to you.

It’s not the voice of Dumbledore, it is the cry of the living Sovereign God of Heaven and earth.

It is a loving cry.

He assures you He is, “patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”

His terms are certain, “him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.”

Remember too… “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

If you listen to what God has to say to you, you will enjoy only “rewards,” not “repercussions.”

May it be so.
